Evolution and the Origins of Life:
It’s all Connected
AbSciCon 2022 session # 119 16 May 2022:
Emergence of Coded Protein Synthesis
"Biology connects and couples together complex systems, weaving diverse threads together. Co-evolution is nature’s loom. We have evidence supporting a model in which co-evolutionary coupling was well-developed during the earliest phases of biology and during prebiotic chemical evolution. The linkages and coupling that are so clear in contemporary biology between information and metabolism, and between replication, transcription and translation, were not added ex post facto but were seeded at the inception. RNA and protein created each other in an elaborate molecular tango. Information and energy transduction created each other at the same dance."
An international multidisciplinary meeting of scientists to coordinate research on core enigmas in the study of how life emerges to form a biosphere. Presentations introduce the scientists and illustrate their major research initiatives, providing insight into how findings in diverse fields are interrelated and integrated.
